Regarding the Insert

Hello all,

Sorry for all the updates lately! There's a lot of back and forth with our factory as we gear up for mass production, so lots of news to report. 

A couple updates ago, some of you expressed concern over the insert not being able to hold sleeved cards. After a couple more iterations with our manufacturer, we were not able to find an insert solution that would hold sleeved cards with this box size. Unfortunately, we are not able to increase the box size as this would mean altering the cover art, and would also have far-reaching effects relating to transport and shipping costs.

Several of you commented that an insert that would not hold sleeved cards would simply be thrown out. As we don't want to contribute to waste, we think it would be best at this point to forego the insert. Due to the box size, the fit of the components is already quite snug and comfortable even without an insert. Bags will also be provided for easier storage. We're also designing a printed wrap that will decorate the interior of the box.

More Samples! And Tabletopia News!

Hi everybody!

I hope you've all had a wonderful holiday! It was a nice surprise to get back into the office today and see that our factory had sent us videos of some of our updated samples.

Our factory sent us this video of the beautifully shiny gold tokens in the Gilded Edition!

 
We are so happy with how those have turned out!

We also got to check out the Mayor meeple with his corrected paint job, and we really like the gold paint with a slight shimmer:

Samples Are Here!

Greetings backers!

We've received two shipments from our factory containing our physical samples! There's a lot that looks really good, and a few things that need to be re-worked. Check it all out below!

Disclaimer: The box samples were printed on an inkjet printer, as is common for these sorts of samples. This is NOT indicative of the final printing quality that will be used, as inkjet causes several printing defects which you'll see on the boxes. These will all be remedied in the final printing.

Speaking of the boxes, here they are:

We had toyed around with doing an alternate cover for the Gilded Edition, but honestly didn't like it as much as the full-color version. So we'll be sticking with that. Both editions will have the same cover, but the Gilded Edition will have a special badge printed on it.

These have a nice glossy finish, and the color really pops.

 
We're making some layout tweaks to the rulebook, but that's all on our end. The printing looks great:

The Gilded Edition Mayor Meeple is a great size, and has a very dapper paint job! We do think some of it is a bit too yellow and we'd like it to be more gold. So the factory is going to do a couple more versions for us to approve.

We got samples of the Standard Edition punchboard, but not the foiled tokens for the Gilded Edition. So we'll be awaiting samples of those from our factory. These all look good and well-printed.

 
Our factory also whipped up a really great insert! Here's a video showing how all the Gilded Edition components fit inside:

 
We'll be making the few layout tweaks I mentioned, and also seeing new samples of the Mayor meeple with gold paint and the foiled tokens. We'll keep you posted as all those things progress.

What do you think of these samples? We're feeling really good about how production is going and are currently still on schedule.

Samples En Route

Greetings backers,

Just a quick update today! We've heard from our factory that our first production samples are en route to us. Since they're coming from China they'll take a few weeks, but we should receive them by the end of the month. We're looking forward to checking those out and sharing them with you!

If anyone is going to BGG Con next week in Dallas, our team will be at the Starling Games booth, so be sure to stop by and say hello!

Production Update: Layout

Hello all,

We have a pretty brief update just to let you know how things are progressing with Penny Lane. After completing our internal proofing, we sent the files over to Mel and Justin for a final pass, and their eagle eyes caught some errors that we had missed. Taking their feedback into account we're wrapping up another overhaul of the rulebook, and correcting some cards that had been laid out incorrectly. Layout for the punchboards has also been completed and proofed. We're hopeful that we'll be getting all these files off to the factory pretty soon. Thanks!
